Wet Weather Layering Guide for Stoney Creek Product

Stoney Creek Wet Weather Layering Guide

Whether you are on the farm or in the hills it is vital to have decent rainwear in your clothing system to protect you from wind and water.

While entry level rain gear will keep you dry from rain that's about all it will do. As soon as you are active it's difficult to prevent sweat from building up inside and soaking your insulating layers and causing you to overheat. With this type of rainwear you get two choices: get soaked by sweat or take it off and get soaked by rain.

Your best bet by far is to invest in some serious kit and look for gear made from our technical three layer rainwear fabrics; rainwear hydrotough, rainwear alpine, rainwear stowit fabric. Made with an internal membrane with millions of pores that block water from the outside yet large enough to let water molecules found in your sweat, escape away from your body from the inside.

To be completely waterproof your shell layer needs all the seams to be sealed. We use a special mesh on the inside which can be sealed with a technical heat bonding tape applied with precise heat and pressure, forming a permanent bond with the fabric. Antibacterial treatments help to keep the seam tape bonding strong for longer periods of time.

All these technical features are wasted if after the first time you use the gear you damage it in the scrub. Special fibres and construction methods have been used so that our rainwear products can stand up to everyday usage.
